Beauty brand Avon's research and development team have created True Colour Technology to bring bold colour to lips and eyes. The new Avon make-up collection is released in the UK, featuring 17 eye palettes and 60 lip colours, with prices from £6. Products in the range include the Ultra Colour Lip Crayon, Ultra Colour Lipstick, Ultra Glazewear Lip Gloss, Glimmerstick Lip Liner, True Colour Eye Shadow, True Colour Eye Shadow Quad, True Colour Eye Shadow Duo, and True Colour 8-in-1 Eye Shadow Palette. Bershka appoints Portas

Effective 1 October, Portas will handle the communication account for Bershka, part of the Spanish retail group Inditex. The appointment is the first that the Spanish fashion retailer has made. The agency, which is headed up by retail guru Mary Portas, won the brief following a four-way competitive pitch against undisclosed agencies. Portas will be working with the brand to drive stand-out and desirability to the fashion conscious consumer across Bershka, BSK, Man and their accessories and footwear. Portas previously worked with the brand in May to launch the AW13 collection in a series of Bershka ‘pop up’ days which targeted key fashion style titles.

Zandra Rhodes to launch footwear range

British fashion designer Zandra Rhodes is to launch her first footwear collection for the SS14 season. Incorporating Rhodes’ signature style of bold prints, feminine patterns and theatrical use of colour, the designer’s first footwear collection will debut at the forthcoming Pure London show at Olympia from 4-6 August. There will be 15 styles in the collection comprising wedges, heels, sandals, espadrilles and fashion trainers and each style will be available in two or three different colourways. Rhodes is hoping to secure around 40 stockists with the SS14 collection and will be targeting retailers including John Lewis, Fenwick, Hoopers and House of Fraser. The footwear will be unveiled to press at an exclusive event hosted by Rhodes on 16 July (see DIARY dates), before being shown to buyers at Pure London in August. The shoes in the collection have been designed to complement the designer’s ollection of handbags which launched in August last year. Wholesale prices for the collection range from £30 for a canvas trainer to £150 for detailed leather heels.

Little Wardrobe is a new online initiative set up to give parents the chance to swap clothes that their children have outgrown. By creating an online community of like-minded parents, it enable users to find and swap high quality clothing for children and babies. Users can list and swap items following a simple registration on the website. In order to ensure all transactions are fair and items are up to the standards of Little Wardrobe, images and listings are moderated and pre-approved.

Amal Simpson, creator of Little Wardrobe, says: “I thought of the idea when I found myself drowning in clothes, most of which were new and hardly worn, after I had my second child. Children grow so quickly and the clothes had years of wear left in them. I wanted someone else to have the benefit of them but didn’t have the time to list each individual item on eBay. I needed a quick, easy way to pass on my children‘s barely worn clothes and to find new ones for them in return, and Little Wardrobe was born.”

News Corp to move London operations to a single location

News Corp has today announced plans to move its entire London operations to a single location in The Place, a new building on the south bank of the Thames River. The locally based businesses and staff of News UK, Dow Jones and HarperCollins will be housed together for the first time and will begin relocating to the new site in the summer of 2014. News UK is currently based in Thomas More Square in Tower Hamlets. HarperCollins is currently in Hammersmith and will use The Place as its London headquarters while keeping offices in Glasgow and Yorkshire. Dow Jones currently has offices in Holborn and the City.

Wolford London unveils AW13/14 collections

Wolford London has unveiled its AW13 ready-to-wear, legwear, lingerie and accessories collections. Inspired by former chief editor of French Vogue Carine Roitfeld, the ready-to-wear collection is feminine and elegant, with dark and shadowy colour hues inspired by ‘Smokey Eyes’, but with bright accents and metallic silver also featuring. This winter's legwear offers a range of graphic patterns, partially inspired by the ready-to-wear collection's designs and textures.  This season's lingerie uses light, figure-hugging fabrics with floral patterns. Tulle has been combined with chantilly and valencienne lace, while two further lingerie ranges are based on satin featuring floral lace. Accessories also match the overall collection in terms of style and colors, with scarves and gloves, leather belts, and a number of 'Legcessories'. The collections have recently had their first drop in-store.

On 15 March this year, Not Just A Label (NJAL) marked the opening of the 2013 Mango Fashion Awards. Three months later, 59 designers have been selected to go through to the next round, including Fyodor Golan, Mads Dinesen, Takayuki Tanaka, Helena Carrizosa and David Longshaw. The shortlist was chosen by a panel that include renowned design colleges from around the world, such as Central Saint Martins, the Royal Academy of Antwerp, L'Institut Français de la Mode Paris, the Escola Superior de Disseny in Barcelona and Istituto Marangoni. The award prize of €300,000 is the largest sum offered to date in a competition of this type.
